Indoor
vs.
Outdoor Drying
Here we will explain to you the differences between indoor and outdoor leaf drying, and why indoor drying is a far superior practice. Crisp powder is made from 100% indoor dried kratom leaves. Believe it or not, there are traits to look for in kratom powder that reveal whether the leaves were dried indoors. We discovered indoor drying by observing that the freshest batches of kratom had a sweet smell to them. How did this smell come about? We eagerly wanted to know.
Outdoor Drying

Lower Moisture Content
Fresh kratom powder will have greater moisture levels. Outdoor dried kratom will usually result is a drier product with a grainier, and more sand-like consistency.
Lower Alkaloid Content
Outdoor drying is a faster process. It is less gradual, and therefore harder to control. This often results in leaves neglected and alkaloids reduced from the suns harmful radiation. Sun exposure will degrade and reduce alkaloids similar to aging.
Bitter Flavor
While kratom leaves are bitter, there are sweet flavors present in fresh leaves. However, these pleasant flavors are usually lost in outdoor drying, leaving end users with a bitter tasting product.
Less Hygienic
Outdoor drying exposes leaves to all kinds of potential contamination. In some cases, leaves are dried directly on the grounds without a tarp.
